The ultimate quest to have the I-dont-need-any-makeup-Look type of skin can be achieved.
Hyperpigmentation occuring on skin can be of various sources. It could be due to changes in the hormones (estrogen and progesterone) that we see during pregnancy and subsiding post delivery. It can be sun induced due to hyper stimulation of the melanin in the skin. Another very common scenario is the hyper pigmentation in the late 40s and 50s due to increase in size of the melanocytes causing sun spots and age spots. Apart from this Acne, irritation from waxing, harsh scrubbing, infections can also cause hyperpigmentation.
Hyperpigmentation affects the skin in patches or can involve larger areas on any part of the body.
Depending on the type of pigmentation, the level of pigmentation, the underlying cause, whether the continuous stimulus for pigmentation persists, the pigmentation can fade or persist.
Many modalities of treatment exists. Our first line always starts with the medical management. To hasten the treatment process advanced skin treatments can be added to the basic skin treatment.
