How To Remove Your Acne Scars?
If home remedies and over-the-counter medications have all been ineffective in treating your acne and reducing acne scars – perhaps it is time to get professional help.
Acne scar removal treatment is one of the signature treatments offered at West Avenue Medical Centre In Nagpur – we have been successfully treating acne scars for over a decade, using various types of methods designed to bring your skin back to tip-top condition.
Over the years, our acne scar treatment techniques have evolved to become much more effective, alongside reduced pain and downtime for our patients.
There are several different types of acne scars that causes great concern and distress for many of our patients. These are
Pigmented and Red Acne Scar Treatment or Blemishes
Finding the best acne spot treatment can help to minimize the inflammation and treat your pimples promptly before it leads to scarring. Typically, after acne has subsided, the pimples often leave behind a brown or red spot, blemish or mark. This is caused by the inflammation and tissue damage done during the formation of acne.
Laser treatment, as well as a combination of lightening agents can be used to gradually lighten and remove these acne scars with zero downtime, such as the Q-switch and Restorative laser – both effective treatments in treating brown and red marks respectively. Often, a combination of the two is necessary and recommended.
Rolling Acne Scars
For milder cases of acne, the skin often heals well. However, recurrent acne in the same spots can eventually cause shallow pits to form in the skin. These undulations in the skin resemble rolling hills and hence, aptly named rolling acne scars.
In order to treat this type of acne scar – it requires inducing the skin’s collagen production to develop a fresh layer of collagen underneath the epidermis. This will help thicken the skin and fill or reduce skin imperfections, thus smoothening the skin’s surface.
Using the Edge Fractional CO2 laser, the depressed scars can also be made shallower by breaking down the scar fibres, shrinking the pores and promoting collagen regeneration. Both Dermaroller and CO2 lasers are popular and effective rolling acne scar treatment methods in Nagpur.
Boxcar and Ice Pick Acne Scars
Boxcar scars are craters with almost vertical walls, while ice pick scars are much narrower and deeper. They have the appearance of someone having chipped away at your skin with an ice pick, hence its name.
These scars are mostly formed after suffering from severe nodular and cystic acne. People with such scars often benefit most from more potent treatments like Infini Fractional Radiofrequency (RF) Treatment, Edge Fractional CO2 Laser or Fraxel Dual Laser for quicker results.
Fractional CO2 laser
This laser treatment is perfect for depressed acne scars that go up to 1.5mm deep. By delivering extremely precise laser beams to intensively treat the targeted spots, the body’s collagen production is activated to help speed up the healing process – improving the appearance of acne scars. Overall, it gives rise to smoother and fairer skin, combined with a more radiant glow.
Offered at a reasonable price point at The West Avenue Medical Centre, this treatment is a great choice for those who are cost-conscious
This is a great Acne scar treatment in solo as well as in combination with CO2 Fractional laser treatment. It has a great depth penetration upto 2.5 mm and is definitely a benefit for deep rolling and box scar types
TCA Cross is the chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS) using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) at high concentrations. This procedure has been particularly successful amongst patients who weren’t able to get satisfactory results from other laser treatments. Since deep acne scars and enlarged pores tend to lie below the zone that lasers are able to penetrate, TCA Cross is hands down the most preferred, complementing acne scar treatment – especially for those with hard-to-treat ice-pick scars.
TCA Cross utilizes a strong dosage of TCA that is deposited onto the surface of deep pitted ice-pick scars to cause a local inflammatory reaction. This causes the formation of new collagen fibres that help to raise the scar – increasing dermal volume and encouraging restructuring of the dermal elements within the skin. Depending on your skin situation, a majority of patients see a 1 to 2 grade improvement in their acne scars over a short period of 6 months.
At The West Avenue Medical Centre, we usually recommend and perform TCA Cross with other treatment modalities, such as laser resurfacing for a more extensive acne cure treatment that also enhances overall skin texture and tone for beautiful, synergistic results.
To get rid of very deep acne scars, we use subcision to break down the scars and add in fillers to get an immediate lifting effect. With needle subcision, a fine needle is injected under the scar to break up the tight collagen bands under the skin. This activates collagen growth and repair during the essential healing phase – progressively leading to an improvement of the scar over time.
This option should be used selectively and is only suitable for certain individuals, depending on their skin condition.
